Scottsburg Senior High School, also known as Scottsburg High School or SHS, is located in Scottsburg, Indiana, approximately 30 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky. Scottsburg High School is a public four-year secondary school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school has 51 professional staff members, with over 95% having obtained at least a master's degree. The school has a graduation rate of 85.6%, attendance rate of 95.9%, and 25% of students earn an Indiana Core 40 Diploma with academic honors

Academics
Scottsburg Senior High School has a core curriculum made up of subjects in Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. Students are required to take 3 years of math, 4 years of English, 3 years of science, Geography/ World History, U.S. History or American Studies, Economics, Government, Careers, Computer Applications, at least 2 years of a foreign language, 1 year of physical education, and a fine arts requirement, among other things.
Scottsburg High School has two paths of study within the curriculum. High Schools That Work and New Tech paths that students choose to follow while at SHS. Students of either program may take AP or Dual Credit courses offered. SHS offers 132 hours of college credit through this program. SHS students can also earn eight vocational certifications in EMS, Manufacturing & Welding.
The school also offers electives in Business, Family & Consumer Sciences, Foreign Languages (Spanish & French), Performing Arts (Band & Choir), Visual Arts, and Vocational programs in Agriculture and Manufacturing.
Academic Competition
Scottsburg High School participates in the Indiana Academic Super Bowl, run by the Indiana Association of School Principals. The statewide competition consists of rounds of 25 multiple choice questions that students answer as a team.[12][13]
Teams from SHS have had several victories at the Super Bowl. They won in English in 2012, Science in 2013, Social Studies in 2014, 2015 and Interdisciplinary in 2016.
Athletics
Scottsburg competes in twenty one varsity sports. SHS fields teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, cheerleading, football, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, and wrestling. Scottsburg High School reinstated football in 2014 and will be a full varsity sport in the Fall of 2017. Scottsburg High School is a member of the Mid-Southern Conference. SHS also has teams that compete in Archery and Bowling which are not IHSAA sanctioned, but sponsored by their organizations.
Scottsburg's boys' and girls' basketball teams have both been dominant traditions at the school. The Warriorettes have had seven players named to the elite Indiana All-Stars and legendary coach Donna Cheatham coached the All-Stars in 1986. In 1989, under the direction of Hall of Famer Donna Cheatham, the Scottsburg Warriorettes defeated Benton Central to win their first and only state championship in basketball. The Warriorettes have won 16 sectional titles, 10 regional titles, 3 semi-state titles, and one State Championship. Current Warriorette coach Donna Cheatham is the winningest girls' coach in the state.
The Boys' Basketball team at Scottsburg has produced two All-Stars in LaVerne Altemeyer and Bill James. The winningest boys' coach in Scottsburg history is Jim Barley and he holds a record of 193-91. The Warriors have won 22 sectionals and 5 regionals.
SHS Cheer Team has won four state titles in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010. The Scottsburg Cheer Team has been coached by Cindy Howser since 2000.
Performing arts
The Scottsburg Senior High School music department consistently ranks as one of the top high school music departments in the state of Indiana with the band under the direction of Timothy Johnston and Curtis Turner. The Scottsburg Band of Warriors have made 26 appearances to the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) State finals since 1983. This includes winning the Class C State Championship in 1989, and finished as Class C State runners-up in 1985 and 1990. The Band of Warriors finished 4th place at ISSMA state finals in 2003, 2009, and 2010, marking their highest finish since 1997. The Band of Warriors also made another recent appearance at state finals on November 8, 2014 with their show "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words", finishing tenth in their division.
The concert bands, divided as Symphonic (Group I Level) and Concert (Group II or III Level), are consistent gold rated and contest winners, including the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, ISSMA Concert Band Festival, and ISSMA Concert Band State Finals. The jazz ensemble, brass choir, woodwind choir and other mixed ensembles are well decorated, including Chicago Jazz Festival Champions in 2005 and are consistent ISSMA Solo and Ensemble State Finalist and Gold Rating recipients.
The Winter Guard, a sub-division of the band program, ranks as one of the top in the state and nation. Started by Steve Nauman and currently under the direction of Charles Combs, the group is a perennial State Finalist, including their feeder program from Scottsburg Middle School. In 2009 and 2010 the middle school program became the silver medalist for the TriState Circuit, winning their first championship in 2011. The high school group became the bronze medalist in 2008, 2010 and became the 2012 Indiana High School Color Guard Association(IHSCGA) Class A state champion.
The Scottsburg Concert Percussion was formed in 2011 by then band directors Doug Goodwin and Timothy Johnston. The group competes in the TriState Marching Arts circuit and Winter Guard International. The group's quick rise to Open class was rewarded with a Silver Medal in the 2013 TriState Championships. In 2013 Scottsburg also fielded a 2nd percussion ensemble in Scholastic A class, which also received a Silver Medal. In 2014 the Scottsburg Concert Percussion Ensemble was named a WGI World Percussion Championships finalist. Scottsburg was the only school with under 900 students enrolled to be named a finalists in this prestigious competition. Their 2014 9th place national ranking stands as the highest placement in program history.
Scottsburg High School also has a choral department. Currently, the Scottsburg Choral department sponsors beginning choir and an advanced choir. Owen Egeberg was a longtime director for the Scottsburg Choral Department, leading the choir to win many awards such as ISSMA's Division I Gold and Silver awards. Under Egeberg's direction, the Scottsburg High School Choir has also competed at the Indiana Music Education Association's Circle the State With Song competition, coming 1st place in their division. After Egeberg's retirement after the 2013-2014 school year, the Scottsburg Choral Department was led by Xavier University graduate Erica Pangburn from 2014-2016. Under her direction, the Scottsburg Choral department rose to glory by winning ISSMA's Gold and Silver awards. Also, under Pangburn's direction, 3 students received Group I Gold medals from ISSMA's Solo and Ensemble event and three students have performed with the ICDA All-State Honor Choir. Following Pangburn's retirement from the teaching profession, the Scottsburg Choral Department is now led by Ashley Kruth.
